What do you thing about Star Wars sets?
I think they are pretty cool but there should be more playsets (they only have vehicles)...

I like them, but feel they are approximately 20% over-priced compared to non-licensed sets. This makes me sad.

Re: What do you thing about Star Wars sets?
As the Star Wars line has gone on I have pursued each and every one of the minifigure scale sets from 1999 through 2008. 2008 sets are not bad sets, but the pricing versus what you receive in the box seems to be getting out of hand. My gripes about pricing cross the whole theme at this point, but the real guilty sets are the "exclusive" sets that are 20% or greater over-priced when compared to other sets offering similar features from other themes. Spending extra for nice items such as the Death Star or Millenium Falcon becomes almost ridiculous when you factor in how much it costs just to get the retail sets, and the fact that those large LEGO sets mentioned above seem to be placing the "exclusive" minifigures in other lower priced sets takes away from their value. The fact is that I am a parent of four kids, so that makes 6 people in my household who I am trying to maintain a value of money philosophy with in regards to necessities and pleasures. LEGO makes great sets, don't get me wrong I love every one of them (with some exceptions), but the market for Star Wars sets must be for a higher income crowd, or those who have fewer than 2.5 kids.

Naboo Swamp, Jedi Duel(s) on Mustafar and Tatooine, the Death Star, Cloud City, Jabba's Palace, Mos Eisley Cantina, Hoth Base, B-Wing at Rebel Control Center, Jabba's Sailbarge at the Pit of Carkoon, and the 2009 Endor Assault and Home One playsets don't count?Lewa Rocks wrote:I think they are pretty cool but there should be more playsets (they only have vehicles)...

I would buy more SW sets if they weren't fleshies. Also, I prefer OT (and some NT) to the CW stuff. I am really looking forward to the new Hoth Base (wish I would have bought the older one) and the Endor Base (hope they come out with a Rebel Commando Battle Pack!).

I used to like them. Now I'm quite sick of them. Sometimes they have some neat new parts, but they are always in the really expensive sets. The sets also seem to be getting more expensive and less interesting. I think its because I have little attachment to the Clone Wars or Prequels. Though some of the new stuff (Hoth, Endor, etc.) coming out might have potential.

Re: What do you thing about Star Wars sets?
Star Wars LEGO brought me out of my dark age in '99 when I bought the Landspeeder (7113, I think). I quickly went into obsessive collector mode, buying almost every set from 99-03. This kind of burned me out on Star Wars LEGO, especially since I realized I could never display them all, or even half of them. I didn't see Clone Wars so those set's don't appeal to me as much, but I still will pick up the occasional OT set, especially if the parts look good. But most of my buying lately has been historical stuff - IJ, Pirates, Castle.

Well that seems like a lot but compared to the vehicles..... and some smaller sets that are not vehicles would be nice....Count Blacktron wrote:Naboo Swamp, Jedi Duel(s) on Mustafar and Tatooine, the Death Star, Cloud City, Jabba's Palace, Mos Eisley Cantina, Hoth Base, B-Wing at Rebel Control Center, Jabba's Sailbarge at the Pit of Carkoon, and the 2009 Endor Assault and Home One playsets don't count?Lewa Rocks wrote:I think they are pretty cool but there should be more playsets (they only have vehicles)...

Re: What do you thing about Star Wars sets?
I used to try and get all the sets or atleast parts to build older sets. But I'm finding I'm getting forced out due to price. Star Wars tends to be excluded from sales in my area and when they are included, the selves are empty. Plus, many times, the only way I can get my hands on UCS sets, I have to order online and Canadian shipping is rather expensive.
I've been moving most of my buying power over to collecting the Indianna Jones line.

I must disagree with you here. I love the new clone battle packs! The little walkers are much better than the old speeder and weird gun mount. They are Soooooo Cuuuute!Lewa Rocks wrote: I hate the way the new clones look![]()

I just want C3PO. Minifigs mostly, I really don't care if they are fleshies or not. I would like something to battle my Indiana Jones army.
