Black Knights Castle 6086 vs. Royal Knights Castle 6090
Black Knights Castle 6086 vs. Royal Knights Castle 6090
Question for the classic castle lovers out there ! Which one is your favorite of these two great sets and why?? I have always been a huge fan of BOTH these sets but never owned either. I would have to say 6086 Dungeon Masters Castle has always caught my eye, there is something about that set!! What do you guys think ? !!

6086 is better than 6090, IMO.
I own neither of them, so I don't have too much more to say on the subject.

I like the Royal Knight Castle better. It looks more defensible. I've looked at the Lugnet instructions. It has the hightest walls (if you include the baseplate), and it has the best castle baseplate out there. 6086 looks better, but, for practical use, the Royal Knights Castle gets my vote.

6090's open "shoot me full of arrows" tower doesn't make the slightest ounce of sense to me beyond being able to get your hands in and play with it. So 6086 wins without even going to its superior fig set, but 6090 is still pretty much the last of the good castles.

I've had both of those castles, but I bought two 6086s. I like 6086 more because it has more soldiers. 6090 has its own strengths like a being a nice looking and big castle. But 6086 gets my vote. Black Knights pwnz!

One of the things I disagree with most of Castle fans...
I just don't like (at all) 6086, and yes I have it. Now before you can all burn me on the stake, the entire construction of 6086 is weird, espsically of the main tower with the gate. I do like the 2 round rook though. And beside 6086 got hardly playability space. From part selection I might agree that the standard corner castle walls are much easier to build with and more usefull from the big corner walls in 6090.
Other then 6080, my 2nd fav. castle ever is actually 6090. I'll give you that the Lion is kindof cartoon and not relastic. But beside that, the castle is big, part wise is the biggest (beside 375 of course) 743 parts which is about 200 bricks more then 6086. As for the minifigs POV I can't really compare cause I like them both and they both fits to their castles. 6086 got a single minifig+horse more then 6090 (and another great barding).

these two sets are, in my opinion, among the best castle-sets ever, as a kid (and still to this day) i always wanted to own 6086, mostly because of the raised baseplate, I always figured if I had one of those i could build any castle I wanted on top of it.
Being a childhood favourit, I would have to say that 6086 still rules, although i would'nt have anything against owning both.

I'm back, and so is Castle!

I vote 6086...way better. More realistic, small nicer looking, great towers, and best of all great minifigs. Chainmail minifigs first appear in this theme right? Also dragon plumes.
I had both sets before, 6090 looks unrealistic, the minifigs are not as good looking as the 6086 minifigs, they don't include a prisoner, the gate entrance is similar to 6086.
Black Knighs is my favorite theme of all lego castle sets. In my opinion they were the last best castle theme TLC released. It would be great if they could bring this set back as a legend.
