Mini-figure display case (made of Lego, duh)

Post by Gakusei »

Hello all. A couple of years ago I started recollecting Lego. Part of the reason was an investment, Lego Jedi were fetching a bunch of money on Ebay, some worth more than the set was even worth on the shelf. Seemed smart to me, the Jedi (or other Lego collectible mini-figures) would offset the cost of any set I buy. Specialized pieces and, eventually, bulk pieces, would amount to profit. Alas, my collectible side took over so that part of the plan never came to fruit. However, I did wonder how I could take the 'will someday be valuable' mini-figures and display them. So I embarked on a plan to create a display case made of Lego. It wasn't as easy as I thought, then again, I didn't exactly put a lot of time or money into the project. However, just recently I finalized my design of the case. Unfortunately, the top pieces can't be bought via Lego itself, so they are somewhat hard to come by (especially since I just bought the biggest bulk I could find in America on brick-link =P)

Anyway, here is my case. I'm hoping to build more for the figures I have from when I was much, MUCH younger.

That's a very nice display case. It also looks like it could pass as a sort of science fiction containment cell.

That's a really great idea! I'll have to make a couple for my most prized minifigs. Nice job!

Whoa that is awesome. Thankfully I've got a good amount of those top pieces. They are usually used as windshields I believe. I'm going to have to try this out. Really amazing idea, It would even keep dust out! :D I can't wait to try it :)

That's a really awesome display case. It would definitely be nice for housing prized figs in style.

It also sort of reminds me of one of those booths you could fill with water and then watch a chained magician try and escape from. Very random...but nonetheless. xD

Yeah sort of. But maybe if you changed the color it would look different. Just a thought

Nice thing is, it can be changed to whatever color to want. The door frames might be limited in the color you select, but you can mix match (red door frame, white bricks, oh yeah :D)

Thanks for the comments. I enjoyed coming up with the case. Total cost to build I think comes to around $5 via pick a brick.
