CCCIX: Gathering of the Clouds

Post by Blego7 »

Hello all! Yet another entry for the CCC. This one is for the "Medieval sige weapon" category. This was a ton of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
For those history fanatics out there, this was based off of the "WarWolf Trebuchet" which is believed to be the largest ever built.
Anyhow, here it is. Once again, this follows the Hobbit storyline, as it shows the gathering of the 5 armies before the epic battle.

Some more pics are on Brickshelf. Enjoy!

C&CC welcome,

The best Lego Trebuchet i've ever seen !!!

It's perfectly realistic and in the same time it keeps a lego feeling, it's just impressive.

I've enjoyed seeing all of your exceptional models this year, and I like the theme you've chosen, and how you've made things work within the categories for the year. For this model I just wanted to ask: Is it a functioning trebuchet, or a static model?

This particular design is built to be functional. I had it all planned out really well, but then I realized that having a realistic sized counterweight would be ridiculous. So this particular creation is just for show, though if I applied a heavier counterweight, it would work like a charm!

Wow, I'm loving your Hobbit MOCs so far, Blake. I think you have a good shot at the master builder prize! Where is that tent from? :?

All of your LOTR builds have been inspiring in their techniques and presentation. This is particularly appealing and is definitely one of the best LEGO trebuchets yet. I hope some of these make it to BF this year.

Wow, that is one awesome trebuchet (best pronounced "Treb-Buch-Et" for comedic effect). Very authentic and great build all round, well played. You have done a great job with the terrain too.
