CCCIX: Inside Information

Post by Blego7 »

Greets all! Yet another entry for the CCC here from the Hobbit storyline. This one for the "Hidden Treasure" category. Inside Information shows Bilbo's entry into the Lonely Mountain and his first encounter with the dragon Smaug the terrible.

I imagine this was probably the toughest creation to make from the story considering the perspective and proportions of the environment (including Smaug), and trying to fit it into the category constraints. I think you did a great job, I would have imagined Smaug a bit bigger, but I understand why you had to scale him down a bit. I really like the disheveled look of the whole thing with treasure and weapons scattered everywhere, and the damage to the pillars and statues. You really get the sense of the wealth of the treasure hoard and I like that you included the scene with the dwarves waiting outside as well. Good luck in the contest!

I love the contrast between the smooth, painstakingly crafted interior and the rough, rocky exterior. Great Work!

Beautiful treasure hall, impressive pillars, and a treasure hoard that made my eyes pop! Two questions though; Where is the Arkenstone, and where are Smaug's legs? I know it was your first dragon and all, but he kinda needs legs IMHO... :halo:

Nice job and good luck!
