About a keep

Post by Aviah102 »

Hello. I am planning on making a medium-sized fort/castle and would like advice or ideas on how to make an interesting design for the keep. The fort will have walls built around an area about the size of two large grey base plates placed together (although not in that exact shape). I have decided i want the keep to be in the corner of the fort (perhaps not traditional for most castles). Details are a bit vague, so ideas can be simple or extravagant. Any feedback, personal pictures, and comments would be appreciated.

Since you'll be having your keep in the corner, why not do something diagonal? Like put the gate on the corner of the outside wall, then put a door or something on the adjacent corner of the keep itself. Someone put something similar to that on brickshelf a while ago:

Thanks for the reply enigma. I really like that guys work. His use of colors is very interesting. I would say that, so far, him and JoJo are two of my favorite builders.

Why arent there more posts here?!?! It may be a bit vague (what I ask for in my post), however, i think that the topic being vague would allow for people to boast of their creations. Please, feel free to boast of any creation even remotely related to the topic, lol. How can i only seem to get one reply for this post when a post about some crazy little figure, allegedly the CC mascot, receives over 150 replies? Hope no one gets upset over my jealousy of the mascot.

heh heh heh... don't take it too badly... I'm not sure anyone can compete with Henry... he is, afterall, the mascot for the entire site. :P

I don't really have anything to show you, which is why I didn't post... but as to why noone else did... it's possible that a lot of people don't feel like doing all the clicking and searching to find cool mocs to show ya, or maybe most people are keeping their cool ideas to mocs they are building now? :)
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.

I noticed that you wanted your keep in the corner....you could even connect it to the walls.
Here's some some casltes with that design feature...
Here's a pic of "Caldicot" castle....

The castle has a round keep that is connected to the walls.

The Keep at Richmond castle also connects to the walls....

Check out Portchester Castle too, it has a similar design.
These pics might give you a vague idea of what your fort might look like.

Don't forget the fact that your topic is 2 days old,and Henry's is about a year and a half old.

Point well taken... I guess I was just making sure that I did not do something to offend many of the posters. Lol, just being paranoid I suppose.
