Any castle contests coming up?

Post by Bloody Jay »

Probably not the right forum, but oh well. I was just wondering if there are any good castle contests (preferably with prizes ;)) approaching in the near future. I was just browsing through the contests section of the site and noticed it hadn't been updated since last October! :o

I'm looking to enter a few to build my skills (and my collection, hopefully!).

Thanks,

Bloody Jay

If you are coming to BrickFest, check out the Displays forum for info on the EVIL ENGINES competition!

Hi Bloody Jay,

Welcome to CC. The admins would like to have a smaller contest or two before our annual Colossal Castle Contest III, which will begin around October. Magnus' idea is excellent. If you are going to BrickFest, there is a siege weapon contest as well as awards for various creations.

Oh, and really this thread belongs in "Administrative" where members of CC give suggestions. Once an actual contest starts and mocs are being shown off, then a contest thread will go in the "Mocs" forum section.

Besides the CCC. There is occasionally a seed part challenge and caption contest. Currently theres the Joe Vig contest going. And the best one, next Feb(hopefully) is the 2nd Battles Contest.

Hmm, seems to me that we oughta have some kind of chess board building contest in honor of that new set. Of course that would mean that someone would have to take the initiative and get it up and running. And since I'm too lazy to do that so looks like we'll just have to wait. :D
Let us stop for a moment and ponder the signiture...

Ok, enough of that!

A battle contest would be most welcome, but of course, it wasnt a long time ago since the last one. In some months when I got more troops, would be very welcome! :D

I will definitely be running the battle contest again. But that won't be until next february or march. However, I have already begun to gather prizes. :) But this chess contest look very promising!

I was just too late in the Chess contest, I had to go somewhere before I could post my pics. I would like to see another contest soon though! :D

I am wondering if there will be any contests soon.... I've checked the main site and there hasn't been a change to it in almost a year! What happened to the seed part contest? That looks kinda cool.... and the CCC? When is that going on? I knew about it last year and couldn't enter, but I was looking forward to it this year.

Admins, any word on some contests would be appreciated.

The main Contest page tends to go long periods without updating...

As regards the Seed Part challenge, a general lack of entries in the last couple has sort of seen it die, although if there was enough interest, I'm sure it would be easily revived.

And presuming that all goes as it ought, the next CCC should be accepting entries over November and December of this year.

Hmm, you're right, the contest page hasn't been changed in a long time. There was actually a seed part in May, but IIRC no one entered anything. More recently we've just finished the MOC the Admins contest a few days ago, and before that we had the Checkmate Chess competition. If you look at last year, we announced CCCII in late October, so look forward to the same timing on this one.

Last year we had a Halloween themed contest, but we have not discussed having one this year. Since Nate and Nelson are hosting a Halloweeen themed vignette contest over on Lugnet, we might not do one here.

Hi everyone,

We do need to update the main contest page with all of the smaller contests that have taken place. The Colossal Castle Contest III will begin on November 1st 2005 and end December 31st 2005.
