3 New Fantasy-Tech Creations

Post by Bricksidge »

Hello. To compliment Jonesy Heckel's Floating Rock Village that was going to be shown at Brickfest 05, I constructed 3 things in the same genre. Unfortunately, Jonesy is a loser and did not finish his village in time. But my creations were set up anyway, along with a few of his chocobos.

Sweet. I like the geko airship the best. That is a pretty cool looking pirate guy in the front with the brown hat.
Good job.

The orthinopter reminds me of something from Dinotopia: The World Beneath.

Excellent job. I really like all three.

Very cool! I love fantasy-tech creations. I really should build some of my own. I like the airship the best. But how is it held up? Are those tank-things on the side balloons?

The Ornithopter is also nice, but where is all that steam stored?

The house is interesting too, but the house seems almost too big for the rock. It looks top-heavy.

Anyway, cool work! :D

Dang, we've seen a lot of fantasy tech lately! I need to do some of my own sometime soon....

My favorite is the house, but it was still hard to choose. The Ornithopter looks like it has some good swooshability. And finally, a good use for that Emperor's Ship sail (you'd think there'd be more :? ).

Great! I just noticed the window on the back of the floating rock island house. I've never seen a window built like that. It looks great, I'll probably borrow that idea.

Ayden,

It's not like this is the first floating rock idea:

Don't ever let the fact that someone else has built a MOC deter you from building a MOC. Learn from others' creations--try doing something they did that you liked, try improving where you see something different that could be done, etc. There's no exclusivity in that only one person is allowed to create in an area (except Tolkien--no one but me is allowed to build Tolkien MOCs) (jk ;) ) (especially ironic in that I haven't had a major update in over a year).

I think Lenny's "Floating Rocks for Floating Heads" series has got to be one of the most original ideas I've seen in a long time, and I laugh every time I see them.

Kevin, I love the two flying vehicles. The ornithopter's wings are great, and the pods on the side of the airship are really cool. Back off-topic again, can you point me to some close-up pics of the chocobos? (I don't see them on Jonesey's section on Neutronbot.com...)

Hey Dunechaser,

Anthony took a good pic at BrickFest.

Image

(The card says it's both Kevins. Who made what?)

And Jonesy has one on Brickshelf.

By all means, make that city. I hold no pretensions of ownership to the idea; indeed, I nicked the idea from Chrono Trigger (man, they don't make games like they used to...). What do they say, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? Besides, it's fun to see what other people do with the meme.

I'm still a bit embarassed about not getting my floating rock village done for this year, but at least I'll be able to pay attention to detail when I do work on it. Perhaps I'll atone by posting progress shots.

BTW Kevsy did you end up buying that lot of Aero Nomads to change up the envelopes on the Gecko?

Thanks, fellows.

Darkie, I love the Dinotopia books. I wish I owned them. I need to get them out of the library again.

Nathan, the 2 side tank-things are indeed balloons. they were originally for a smaller ship that fit them better, someday I may buy the parts to use those big tan Aero Nomad half domes.

Bruce, my chocobo is the white with red saddle one, with the larger tail feathers.

Ayden, by all means, build away! I would love to see someone else's floating rock anything!

Jonesy, I am ever-so disappointed in you for not finishing your village. I would very much like a preview-pic, though! Don't share it with anyone but me! Ah-hahaha.

Anyway, thanks everyone, and build Fantasy-Tech!
