From City-State to City-Ship

Post by JPinoy »

Here's the first sections of the soon to be Kahilawayan City-Ship "Ifugao".

The walls, towers, and buildings within the fortifications will sit upon a large platform/hull. This has yet to be build and should be about twice as high as the height of the city-walls.

I wonder if the tower plus the platform/hull will make it too tall to fit inside a house with an 8ft ceiling. But it should fit in the more open area of wherever BrickFest is held.

Kinda flimsy looking walls, but they will be reinforced soon.

I kinda wonder if some of you still consider this thing as "Castle" or even "Ancients" (castle related)... at it current form it can pass as one. Even the soldiers who carry enegry pulse shooting staff weapons, use castle parts. Not to mention their armor and helmet.

Some background info the Kahilawayans, they are from Southeast Asia around 30,000 years ago. They left the planet around the time between 11,000 BCE and 9,000 BCE.

They've been split into 3 different factions which 2 of them being allied and the other being the antagonist.

Wow, I am happy that you started building again. I saw your first tower a while ago and loved it. I can't wait to see more. I am very impressed about the size. I would consider it castle (there are a lot of things in the forum that I wouldn't but I think that this belongs there) :D

I suppose I would consider this more along the lines of fantasy/science fiction, than a true 'ancients' theme. That being said, if that's your thing than I'm all for it. I'm not big on fantastical things myself, but if it motivates you to build, keep going :D .

I must say, your armies are certainly impressive. I just hope that your move into the fantastic doesn't compromise the way you've been developing your factions. Still, I wish you the best with your space-faring ancients (Somehow, I am now reminded of Stargate).

Later.

This is pretty cool so far - the top of your tower reminds me a little of Angkor (what) http://www.edwebproject.org/asiapics/angkorwat.blue.jpg. Is that on purpose? Anyway, I see some southeast asian infulence in the tower-top. I also like your use of the cannons - they are so high up, it looks like they could take anything out from miles away!

This seems really cool so far - it's nice to see some pics of your story/theme too.

Is it possible to see some close-ups of the figs in your next batch of pics? They look kinda cool too.

Thanks for the replies so far, guys. But Im still a looonnngg way from completing this MOC.

ottoatm,
Its actually modelled after both Angkor (what) and Borobodur.
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Elite ... ompare.jpg

Im replacing those cannons with hunter-seeker launchers. Which is basically a drone that follows and destroys a target regardless of its evasive manuevers or defenses.

Blueandwhite,
StarGate SG-1 and Atlantis, and Independence Day were the shows that inspired me to make the cities of the Kahilawayans, as air and space flight capable. I also turned the Kahilawayans into something similar to the Alterans of StarGate because I wanted a faction that can bridge both my Modern Military theme and Ancient Civilization theme.

I will show pics of the soldiers, but when there's good enough quantity of them to show off.
