Clean up our forum!

Post by SavaTheAggie »

I just finished deleting 10 or so bogus users off of our forum. These users were either blatently or covertly advertising something, and were not contributing to this site in any way.

To give an example, some were advertising locations to find dates or where to buy cheap perscription drugs, and those were the tame ones.

If you see a new (or old!) user that has signed up that is advertising such things, or you suspect something is amiss, RAT THEM OUT!

Tell an admin or a mod immediately so that they can be dealt with as necessary, please!

While we do not allow children under 13 years to join our forum, we WOULD like to keep this forum clean and safe enough to where they could browse it.

Thanks,

--Anthony and the C-C Team

Great post Tony. We need to keep this site safe from spammers.

After discussion with Tony, I added this new rule to the CC Terms of Service:

10. Profile Web Links. Any member who links to a non-LEGO related commercial site in their forum profile will be banned from Classic-Castle. This action is necessary due to a large number of spammers linking to sites with inappropriate content.

This means that a link to your bricklink shop is ok, but a link to your tattoo business is not ;) It is the responsibility of every CC member to read and follow the Terms of Service:

Yes. Your site is a forum with topics like Star Wars. Commercial sites are what we are targeting with this new TOS change. Of course linking to inappropriate content banned in the Terms of Service could get someone's account deleted.

Fan/Story sites are always cool - even if your trying to sell us Sikaron T-shirts. 8)

Is your site LEGO related? (I think it is ;))

Can we link to our tattoo business if we only do Lego tattoos? Just kidding, anyway, good change to the TOS. I agree with it entirely. Ceep Classic-Castle Clean! :)

I imagine that if you've been here for a while contributing to CC the admins would warn you first for minor infringements. I think it's blatant spam they're after, so just don't advertise. Good idea, guys.

Hey admins - look like the latest user, ahuda, is one of the users your talking about.

>sigh<

Just wondering, are private messages the preferred method to notifying you all of such users?

Not sure how you guys are all structured with admins and mods, but as the forum grows I was thinking maybe we should have a mod or admin who's specific role is user management or something. Not that you don't all do a fine job at it already. 8)

Thank you for pointing out the latest three spammers. I was already aware of them but I have to wait for certain admins with uber forum powers to delete them ;)
