Owner of CC
Owner of CC
Who is the owner of Classic-Castle?
Or is it a joint ownership?
Or is it a joint ownership?
Troy owns the servers and the domain name. The actual site of Classic-Castle, however, was created jointly by the Admins and is owned jointly by the Admins. If Troy wanted to back out for whatever reason, CC wouldn't go away - the rest of us would have to find a new server (and a way to pay for it ).

Hahaha. Architect = Ben Ellermann, who is one of the admins and part owner. He gets a lot of credit around here due to his being the designer of our impressive Castle Set Guide and other cool projects.

I believe the CC account has top admin power. Troy uses it occassionally when he needs to do something.

Ah, you're thinking of the Matrix. That's a different alternate universe.Graynar wrote:That's weird because, I thought architect owned the CC website.

I believe that I did say that CC was CREATED JOINTLY by the Admins. Bruce N H and Nathan Wells were added after-the-fact. So the founding admins would be: Troy, Tony, Lenny, Ben, and Kevin.
Troy provided servers, domain name, and developed the forums. Tony and I designed the site, and Tony created the html. Then each admin took a particular area and created that - I took the City Standard, Ben took Sets and Articles, Kevin took Links, and I forget what Tony took. We all worked together to create the site. The original concept for the site was developed over about a month between all five of us (some independently, some coorperatively).
I think maybe theres a subtext to what you're asking. Why do you want to know?

Perhaps. The Admins (and Mods) are the ones who should be proud. And so should the members. This is a great site.Graynar wrote:TLG should be proud of the CC.

Just to add on to what Lenny said a bit:
I do not own the site. CC was created before the Matrix sequels came out My name refers to the fact that I have bachelors and masters degrees in Architecture and likely will be a real Architect some day.
Tony's original duty other than webmaster was creations and stories. Many of us gave input for the site creation. Tony did the brunt of the work with coding and image creation but Lenny and I assisted him (mainly with nitpicky suggestions).
The main point is that all the admins are a team. This is the key to the success of Classic-Castle. We do not always agree, but we work hard to provide the best service for all of our members. Each admin brings something different to the table (events, stories, how to, gaming, sets, etc) but we work together for you CC will not end because on crazy lego fanatic web site owner wants to not do any work or update the site. We purposely planned against that possibility. If an admin has to leave or move on, we will find a replacement. Or if a new need comes up, like gaming, we will appoint a new admin.

No, no. I meant to ask about who first had the idea of creating CC.I think maybe there’s a subtext to what you're asking. Why do you want to know?
I suppose being an architect is rooted in playing with Lego when you were a child?architect
So are all Admins acquainted with each in real life? The main point is that all the admins are a team
The idea came up spontaneously amongst several of us. Originally, we started organizing, getting together discussing ideas, in an effort to take over an old LEGO Castle group called Castle World. But the guy who was in charge of CW at the time didn't want our help, but also didn't do anything himself. Then, through complaing about the CW admin, we came to the idea of making a new site and having it be everything that CW could never be.Nick wrote:No, no. I don't recall who originally had the idea - but there was a lot of discussing back then, and a lot of ideas floating back and forth. Thats why I tend to cite the Admins as a whole as creating CC or having the idea, rather than anyone in particular.
At BrickFest 2005, Troy, Tony, Ben, Kevin and I were able to sit down and have lunch together and talk about stuff. We mostly made jokes and complained about lousy service. I don't think any of us have met Bruce or Nathan in person, but I think thats just a matter of time until we do.So are all Admins acquainted with each in real life? The main point is that all the admins are a team
