A 3 wide window

Hi everybody,

After this one and this one, I'm (still) proud to announce a new window :

At this moment, I'm sure that SNOT specialists will count : One... two... three... but ! it's not possible to fill a 3 wide hole with plates in SNOT."
That's right, but I don't use plates here. The brick here is the 3185 Fence 1x4x2.

We used yet this part to make stained windows, but this part has the very interressant property that its thickness is 1/3 of brick. This part allows a 1/3 offset.

Wow! Let me say that you are certainly one to think outside the box when it comes to this window making. I think all three designs are wonderful, but I like the other two better. This one you really can't view from the "inside" of the building. The others, I think, could still look like windows if seen in an inside scene.

Excellent work using the SNOT and technic pins and bars for structure in the building, I think that the lack of technic is something that a lotr of castle builders have problems with, and simply because you're building a castle doesn't mean you have to stick to bricks and plates only!

One question. Does this window only look good from one side?

I really don't know how some of you builders do it... this is a design I could only imagine after hours and hours of endless tinkering... did you use the software to help out?

It's really well done - I like the design and the look of it is very nice. I'll agree with some of the others in saying that I like a previous window of yours better (http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ea-th ... e_snir.jpg), but that shouldn't take away from what is a great construction here.

I know this window is awsome and all.

But how sturdy is it? Are SNOT techniques ever that sturdy? Hmm, I should try it some time, and find out.

The window really is fantastic, but I don't have much to add beyond what others have said. I have to admit that my favorite part is "Jane Vig" peeking out from behind the wall holding the "3" tile.

Very nice touch!

Yes, this is the drawback of this technique. I didn't look for a better manner to avoid the white Technic 1x1 bricks. If someone find a better solution...

did you use the software to help out?

No. Just a good feeling with the bricks

I have to admit that my favorite part is "Jane Vig" peeking out from behind the wall holding the "3" tile. Very nice touch!

Thanks, it was to give life to the MOC, and what could be more expressive than a Castle Joe Vig holding a 3 to illustrate this 8x8 MOC ?

Great design. Especially useful for vignettes to put a more detailed building in a small space.

Perfect. Well, awesome, not perfect, it's deep, and the fences are blocking on the other side but hey, there's a price to pay for every technique and at least this is way better than anything I have been trying myself
