What do you like about LEGO?

Post by Graynar »

Yes that's right...what do you like about LEGO?

What makes you come back for more of this wonderfull plastic toy?

The minifigures?

The pieces?

The fact that it was on sale?

I continue buying LEGO because it's great! You can create your own worlds, towns, space ships, and buildings with unlimited possibilities!

So, what do you like about LEGO?

Everything... 'cept for that blasted color change and flesh tone.

Pretty much everything you mentioned in your post.

What's great about LEGO is that it's endless. However far your imagination will take it is how far it will go. My youngest Uncle passed me his collection when I was 4, and when I hit 13 and reached my dark ages I passed down the collection to his boys. And I know when I have kids they are going to get it again... well they better... cause they're NOT touching mine!

Mainly, because I can build with it in the living room without disturbing the neighbours by hammering and sawing and such..
And I don’t get my wife upset because it makes no dust or stains or strange odeurs…
..Or staying on the attic all the time…

Honestly, I enjoy LEGO for its simplicity. It is the perfect construction toy as it allows anybody to be artistic. Unlike other crafts or hobbies, it isn't difficult to produce a fully reaized model with LEGO. Precise hand-eye co-ordination or highly developed skills in the visual-arts aren't needed to be a great builder. The LEGO system promotes problem-solving, and creative thinking.

Building models for example, requires a high level of dexterity. It is a talent limited to a select few. Painting, sculting or drawing also require a great deal of study and are not easily mastered by most persons. Many people like to draw or doodle, however few people will ever stand out as having a real talent for it. LEGO on the other hand places no such condition on its user. Anybody can snap a few bricks together, and with a bit of effort, anyone should be able to produce a decent MOC.

The real question is, "Why wouldn't I like LEGO"?

I like Lego because of the detailed scenes one can create, and because of the huge variety of combinations possible.

Small cute characters with big naughty weapons, and they even got the ability to dismember eachother!

That and the building. :D

LEGO isn't a toy, its an endless miniature architectual wonder that TLG has turned into a toy with HP, KK2, Bionicle, and other such things. I don't mind it being a toy, yet in essence, for the old geezers in here (Unless you're really odd  ) is a way to express creativity into small studded bricks.

I like being able to create a little world and do with it as I please. And if I screw it up, I can tear it down and start over again. Its great stress relief.:)

I agree on both points! Create and rebuild. Stress relief. Seriously, sometimes I get home from work, and my wife and kids are asleep. I pull out some LEGO and build. Clears my mind, yet keeps it active. Very theraputic!

I like the minifigs and the bricks. Most of all, I like the fact that I can use Lego as a way to make my stories come to life. Even if its taking a long time to write as well as be represented in Lego form.

This is a really hard question actually. Of course I can say that I love LEGO but when it comes to motivate it I´m pretty dumbstruck....

But probably it is because I can build almost whatever I want and create my own little worlds. Or maybe it´s just another opportunity for my imagination to run wild :D
