What kind of Customs?

Post by E of Alshire »

It's quite simple, really. What kind of customs do you use, and why?

-Ethan

note that there is no "purist"/"customs are evil" option, and there's a reason for it - this is the Customs thread, after all. :D

I chose the final answer, since really I do whatever seems appropriate at the time, whether it's an extremely minor thing (such as putting on a custom cape) or a major thing (such as waterslide decals and reshaping LEGO shortswords).

Anyone saying E is not paying attention to the mutually exclusive nature of the other choices. :D

And sure enough, Damien answered E as I was writing my messge. 8)

Well then, we'll just treat E) as an 'anything goes' option then, won't we?

I had to answer with "A" stickers, if they work out are the main thing I would use on a minifig.

Once I tryed fixing one of those He-Man swords but it turned out badly. That and once had to have surgery with a bent halberd.

Treat it as D. D states that anything goes, and E implies that anything goes. It's a redundant choice.

"Whatever seems appropriate at the time" would be an example of anything goes (it excludes nothing at the right moment).

Yeah.. I took E as the choice of "whatever." The other choices struck me as being all or nothing. Like D struck me as "I always cut and paint everything I get my hands on.. I am mildly psychotic."

i dont usually do decals, the usual customs i do is painting equipment (eg swords) to make em look more royal. and sometimes customizing weapon (this involves a sharp knife so i dont like the process)

Painting
Decaling
At certain times I modify helmets, ESA swords or weapons that has been broken, but that is as far as it goes.

I didn't vote because there wasn't a category for me. :) I usually use stickers and modify stuff thats already broken. If I modify something else, I tend to buy another one on bricklink so that I still have at least one of the unmodified pieces...

I have removed the pommels off of all my Great Swords (chrome big sword). And clipped off all the wings from the Batlord helmets.

I voted e because I tend to cut up weapons sometimes, but I mostly just sticker people and shields now.

I tent to just use stickers of official torsos that I don't own. Sometimes I'll open something Mr. Sava made up in photoshop and switch the colors around.

When it comes to stickers, I do stickers in Lego's own style, as if it was produced by the TLG, and at rare occasions I make copies of official ones.

The same goes for customs, I dont make them too far-out, just to keep the Lego-ness over them.
