Nuernberg Toy Fair pics

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Pics are starting to appear from the Nuernberg Toy Fair. So far they are on Brickshelf and Eurobricks. Of particular interest to Castle fans are:

Creator set that makes a dragon:

New Vikings sets:

And for the non-system sets
Belville:

Duplo:

Also pics of the Batman stuff, including the UCS Batmobile, which I hadn't seen before, Exo force, a really cool train display, bionicle, etc.

Thanks to Sam89 on FBTB for the heads up.

Looks good. The new viking dragon is a slightly different colour scheme to leaked picks I've seen. It's not really my cup of tea but I love the new balista and catupult.

The city semi-trailer looks good too :)

The toy fair displays aren't necessarily finished products. Remember that two years ago the Snowtroopers in the AT-AT set didn't have finished helms, we've seen yellow figs when the final lines came out with fleshy figs, and last year two different versions of the Harry Potter Graveyard Duel set were displayed at the German and American Toy Fairs. We even got sneak-peek photos directly from LEGO of the KKII sets that weren't the final set designs. So nothing is final until the sets go on sale.

I'm most excited about the other Viking set. I count 7 figs, which, if still there in the final version, would make this the best army builder out there.

Agreed.

Its about time we got a few sets with a decent assortment of minifigs. What makes this even better is that those seige engines look great! Bigger and better than anything I've seen out of LEGO. They should make for some great MOCs. I prefer the twin-armed launcher varriation, but the seven minifigs is going to be hard to pass up. This is probably one of the only sets I'll pick up this year! Awsome stuff.

Later.

These new viking sets look great! Is that a trebuchet? And a blue dragon, I've wanted one for a long time.

Also, the green Creator-dragon looks very nice.

I'm happy to see, not only the new vikings but also the Continuation of the City line. The sets are great just to look at, happy to see that Lego still knows how to do realistic stes.

It seems to be a sweet lego-year :)

I agree that these new sets look great - the viking set looks like not only a nice army-builder, but a solid addition of seige engine material as well. I actually like the looks of the green creator dragon a bit more than the blue one... it just seems more... mean. Still, the blue one is nice too, and as someone mentioned, it's nice to get one in blue at all... lets hope that stays as it is.

Also, I know many don't like bioncle, but these seem they would make awesome evil... monsters of some kind: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1616909

Thanks for posting all of this - it's good to see what's on the way!

Looks awesome. I like those new wheels on that Viking catapult. They make for better looking siege weapon wheels than those brown 4x4 round bricks.

Good point! I hadn't noticed the wheels there... that is a much better look - perfect for the vikings theme too. I like the big bone head on the other machine too, although I am a little worried how that might look once I see it in front of me, in my hands.

You know what's so great about those new wheels? It appears that Lego borrowed the design from a drawing of an Ancient Greek siege machine... the Helepolis.

WARNING: Massive pic.

Wow..... (the old Dream-Stone Cartoon music): ....Stranger than my wild imagination... This is a real sensation, it's better than a dream....(end of the old Dream-Stone Cartoon music)
Wowwww. And the best part is that the engine with the dragon is trebuchet-like.

Hey,

Sam89 on FBTB has pointed out that there are more pics here, including some castle pics. The bad - that new brick pattern is definitely a sticker (at least on the corner panels, I have yet to see a good close-up of the 1x2x6 bricks). The good - closeup of new shield and breastplate patterns.

Awesomeness.

Dark green plates, Beville doors in brown and in a smaller set (previously only found in Hogwarts Castle), cool shield and armor prints, and the sets don't look half-bad. I actually like that duel-injected rock piece. I could do with the insane bionicle weapons, though.

Still, looking very cool.

I like the silver grill helms. They're probably place holders for the silver Danju (purple) visors we saw in the preview pics. Personally either way, I'll be happy. Aside from the color, the Danju visor rocks.

I still count 9 figs in 8813, which will probably be the only '06 KK2 set I will be buying. Cheap enough, I'd buy 2. Though it looks like it'll most likely be a $30 set...
