Legacy of the V-pods

Post by Azaghal »

Although, I suppose they haven't really been around long enough to have legacies. Never mind, on to the point:

Ever since the emergence of V-pods, I've noticed several MOCs that use X-pods, without being in vig format. For example, this Ice Planet station, or Sir Nelsons Ogel Mutant Jellyfish. Is this truly a rash of creations inspired by the V-pods, or is it that I'm only taking notice of these creations because of them?

Thoughts?

It's taken a while, but it seems people are finally warming up to their potential as part of MOCs. Well, that's true for me, anyway. I had a grand total of one X-pod until today, when I bought several more. :D

I suppose it can be pretty hard trying to implemetn the pods into any MOC succesfully, up until only recently they've only be seen as containers of sorts.

I am a fan of the V-pods though, and Ice Planet Station and Jellyfish both look superb, and well thought out.

I think it all depends on your imagination.

Actually, the pods have been used in many (ahem)... space... (ahem) MOCs since they were first released. My first attempt at using the pods was the M:Trax.

As for my Mutant Jellyfish, while I creating it, I suddenly realized that it was not a vignette... but, I completed it anyway. :)

On a similar note, if you all can bear to look around Ed's spacey gallery you'll see many MOCs with X-pods, most of which were created over the past couple months. However, MOC's such as Sir Nelson's that fit entirely inside the X-pod do seem to be a newer developement, perhaps? It does seem there are a lot of yet unexplored possibilities for these, judging by the variety and rate of new MOCs.

I had seen v-pods used alot in space MOCs before, and I think it's great people have figured out ways to incorporate them into other themes as well. I reallllly like the whole V-VIG idea, and will try it eventually. The multitude of colors and such lends it's self to such a creative and verstile role in MOC/VIG building and the limited space for pieces in the V-VIG format is a great limitation forcing creativity and such...

That's my take, I should really go find some more colors in them though, I only have two clear ones...
