No more legend sets planned

Post by Reejoc »

I spoke to Jan (lego community development) yesterday and asked about the possibility of more classic castle sets being released.

It's a clear no I'm afraid - the reasons being that they would be difficult and expensive to produce now that the colour palate has changed and many of the pieces are discontinued.

The more interesting question is would fans want Legends in bley? Ever since KK2 came out it does not make sense to have Castle Legends to compete with current product.

There are many castle sets which use very few specialized bricks. The past Legends (Guarded Inn and Black Falcon's Fortress) mainly used basic castle pieces. Some elements had special printing as well. I would think that older sets like 6080 King's Castle, 6066 Camouflaged Outpost, and 6054 Forestmen's Hideout could be made with bley pieces. Of course most German fans who interact with Jan Beyer of the LEGO Community Team would be against this.

I apologize for somewhat hijacking this thread. I will start a poll asking the opinions of the CC fans. If you are interested in commenting on the bley Legend issue please comment there.

New legend sets would have to be in bley but this is a moot point really, seeing as Jan was pretty clear that there won't be any more produced.

Many things are possible with fan support. I have hope for the future of the Legends program and will work to get more information for the fans.

If this had been posted yesterday, I'd have said it was an April Fools joke (speaking of, I haven't seen any this year).

I'm still skeptical, as they did produce a couple legends (Airport and Hotrod) in the new colors.

NOOOO!!!!

*grieves*

Seriously, why would they discontinue? They can just make the sets in the new colors. It's their company, and when they re-released other sets, the rehashed sets came in the new pieces and colors. I think people would find the parts and set design more important than the colors.

I don't mind bley color...I would, actually, love to see someones in bley(Yellow Castle, for example)...I find the minfigs the most important thing...It doesn't matter of the little-bit-change of color...And,of course, that classic castle design...

PLEASE LEGO start releasing some old sets as Legends...
PLEASE...

If Lego would only make GOOD castle sets now, then there wouldn't be such a demand for castle legends.
They can just make the sets in the new colors.
That would make sense but you still have...
and many of the pieces are discontinued.
I guess they can find other pieces to replace the discontinued ones but then it wouldn't really be the exact same set.

I 100% agree!

"I think people would find the parts and set design more important than the colors"

I'd just love the chance to get more of the clasic Castles again, and buy multiples of these sets.

When The Guarded inn and the Black Falcons Fortress came out i purchased three (3) of each... and that made my day! :D

But now we need to emphasize that we want Legends to continue, and the set design, even with the new blay colors, would still be excelent sets!

You're right! That's why they didn't make 6090 into an actual legend. Instead they made that "King's Royal Castle" set that was supposed to be like a re-release of 6090, but it wasn't. Just some cheap imitation.

I would support feverishly with both my heart and wallet ANY or ALL of the first Castle sets re-imagined with different colors, soldier/knight accessories of current design, molded horses and heraldry changes. If they did a LEGEND Re-Imagined of the Yellow Castle, for example as a Tan Castle with 2007 guards and Black Falcon, Crusader, Black Knight visiting knights with squires I'd buy *no fewer* than four copies and possibly many more. I'd be more in for modern interpretation with updated parts like that, but build the structure the same as the Yellow Castle (only do it in TAN!). 8) 8)

The yellow castle is a good exemple: it is made only with regular bricks, no special/discontinued bricks. And it's the same for my deer king castle 6080 (my first one !). The only discontinued elements may be found in the minifigs.

The red 1x1 windows of 375/6075 are no longer made. The thin classic-space helmets and visors from the Yellow Castle are also no longer produced. With a few changes the set could be made. I believe it did not do well in the Legends poll www.LEGO.com had a few years ago. It is still a great set. I am not sure if it would sell well.

I don't think it would be very useful as a set. There are no real interesting parts beyond the weapons; there's not really enough detail for a big set.

But all the same, I want the Legends back! The Guarded Inn and Black Falcon's Fortress were released less than a decade ago and most of the old Castle pieces are still around anyway - would it really be so hard? I don't care if a few of the colour tones are slightly different - and that's all it is. Does our love of a set hinge solely on a few colours? I don't see why it's not possible.
