Yellow or blue boxes?

Post by mysticallyenchanting »

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I can't find a post.

I was just wondering if you prefer the newer blue boxes, the really old LEGOLAND ones (e.g 375, 677, 383 etc) or the yellow LEGOLAND ones in between (1984 - 1992 ish).

At first I hated the new blue (because of sentimental value to the old boxes and everything that they represented (ie good models)) but it has since grown on me. However, I can't help but feel they're a rip off of Playmobil's colour scheme. I also have fond memories of seeing shelves upon shelves of yellow boxes in toy shops (although I think my memory has since turned into a fantasy...).

Yellow is a challenging and alert color. Blue is passive and caters to kids and parents who do not want to be challenged. Maybe this is why some sets like creator still have yellow boxes. Bring back the yellow box! ;)

I prefer the clean layout and modern typography of the yellow boxes. They stood out on the shelf and seperated themselves (at least in the States) from their competitors with classic European design.

Yellow boxes. The red logo looks so good on it.

I wouldn't mind seeing them change colors each year or color code by set type.

I love the old yellow boxes. I still remember shelves full of that lovely color. Recently I was given a number of old sets still in the boxes and they are beautiful!

I don't care about the box, just what's inside it.

Nathan, you're a party pooper, I'm surprised you didn't complain about the lack of an "this poll is flawed option". :D
