Viking incursion and wooden fortified wall

Post by neonbug »

A couple more entries from us for the competition: for the battle scene category..

Viking incursion
Image
The locals fight back against the viking invaders using whatever they have (look out for the apple, the breadstick and the horse :P)

After this I decided to expand on the idea of using the log bricks sideways for timber walls, and so made:

Wooden fortified wall

for the fortification category.

Thanks for looking :)

That fort is really nice! The orange works very well with the brown & that's a great looking SNOT technique you have used on the walls.

I really like the Viking raid too - it is defiantely my fav MOC in that catagory so far. Also if you guys didn't know already, the Brickster from Eurobricks posted a thread about it here. I made sure you both got credit ;)

Thanks, and thanks for the link :) .. I'm not a eurobricks forumgoer so I didn't see it.

I should of course say the snot-style water idea is from numerous mocs I've seen here :P I don't know who was the first to do it.

Viking incursion is wonderful- those sails are the best ever. Mind if I steal that?

I like the detail on the fort, but the dark orange (rust?) doesn't appeal to me. That's just opinion, though.

Of course not  I doubt I'm the first to use the idea...

Fair enough... actually I keep that colour with my other brown pieces which is mainly why I thought of using them :P

I saw the Viking incursion a whie ago, I was quite impressed with it! To repeat everyone in every other forum, the brick rolled-up sails look great!
There's a lot of hard to see details in there (like the peasant throwing the apple at the viking), can't wait for more non CCCIV pics of this (you DO have more, right? :) ).

Well, it sucks for the peasants. There's no way out from this attack!

I like it! I'm also working on a viking attack scene. I think I'll NOT steal *wink wink* some scenes.

I really like your building here - for the viking incursion, putting the water pieces sideways worked well to show the lighter water by the shore, and probally helped a lot in making the viking boat seem to "sit" into the water more. The smoke was also a nice touch.

For the small fortress, I hadn't though of using wood sideways, but the look is very nice, and the fortress overall is done quite well.

Good bit of building there~

I love the viking ship with the furled sails. I had to post a note to the Pirates forum on Eurobricks where it can inspire others. :D

I like the wooden wall the best. But my favorite part of the battle scene is the guy who seems to be tipping over the wagon with a horse on it onto another guy. Poor guy is going to get smashed by a horse's butt, whata way to enter Val Halla...

Nice, both of them. I love the colors of the fort, and the construction is very realistic adnd believable.

The viking attack is a great example of a small battle scene. The posing is super, the landscaping excellent, and the rest of the building is just a nice! My favorite part is the peasent throwing an apple at the viking, that's classic, I laughed at that for quite while!

i like the viking incursion a lot. there's a lot of details, and the concept is really creative! I have not seen anything close to it on brickshelf!
nice setup and excellent MOC (or BIG vignette :P)

as for the fortified wall, I didn't like the (dark?) orange pillars, preferring dark red or black to it. On a postive note, I really like the SNOT work and the seamless integration :)

Both of them are very nice, but I am extremely impressed by the way you did the wall on the second on. How did you keep the crenalations attached, though?
