Hi. I have been lurking on this site for the past week, and let me just say that you guys make some impresive MOCs!

I am a Lego animator (stop-motion) and I decided on a future project surrounding the Lego castle theme, and when I searched "Lego castle" I came across here.
In order of priority in my animation, I am finishing a comedy now, starting production on a WW2 mini-series and by the time that is done I hope to have amassed enough Lego to make a fairly large castle.
I am trying to find a way to buy alot of Wolfpack minfigs (about 50 or so) for as cheap as possible; ebay seems to be wolfpack deficient :(

Also, do you have any tips for anyone starting off building castles? The largest thing I ever built was a 20 room hotel, and that was about 7 years ago. I have been out of the whole Lego scene for about 6 years, gave all my bricks to my younger brother, but decided to get back in since all my memories of Lego have been good ones. So now I am in the process of buying bricks by the pound.

do you have links to any of your movies? I love stop-motion with Lego (especially if they're done well), and have dabbled a bit myself. I've never actually finished a movie, though... I got a little tripod for my camera yesterday. maybe I'll try harder now...


A 20 room hotel? Wow! Big!

My opinion on how to 'learn' to build castle is to start not so much small, more like sectionally. Build a wall, see if you like it. Build a few different window designs, doorframes, etc, and just hone your skills a bit. Then you can put your ideas into a castle.

And as for the Wolfpack figs, you can look around Bricklink

Haha, what a coincidence, I bought a tripod myself on Thursday.

The only recent brickfilm I have completed thus far is a music video, you can find it by searching "rammstein lego limberger" on youtube. The project I'm working on is nearly done, so that will be up soon. Me and a friend once redid the whole Matrix movie for a school project, but the quality was poor and the film was once accidentaly lost during a format.

The hotel was quite small. The rooms were just big enough for a bed and a night stand, and there were no hallways, haha. The whole thing just folded out using the Lego hinges.

I had a few pictures of the things I built as a kid, and one of the hotel. That was in the old days of film, so I will try to find the picture and scan it.

Hmm, as a film-maker and LEGO enthusiest I have thought about stop-motion lego stuff, but I get too ADD for that. I'll look for your stuff.

As far as joining up here at CC I am glad you did and hope you can find those wolfpack guys! They were a much smaller faction, so are sometimes hard to come by, but every once in a while ebay gets alot, so just keep looking.

I hope you decide to stick around for a while and can learn alot here. I have.

Welcome to CC! I really liked your music video. Do you read the Brickfilms forums? On building castles, I'd just suggest you skim through threads in the Castle MOCs forum for inspiration, and also check the articles in our how to section.

Thanks for all the welcoming words guys.

When I finished my music video, I submitted it to Brickfilms, but after 4 months I got a reply that my video was rejected (without any formal explanation). And since my upcoming releases won't be considered PG material, I think that I won't even bother. Anyhow, I lurked on those forums for a while, but have no real desire to sign up, I already established my own technique in terms of what camera and software I use. All I will try to improve is the frame rate and stability of the pictures on future films (and with the aquisition of the tripod, I can see it happening). So in short, I don't really have a need to associate with that community.

I was reading the 'Avoiding the "Big Gray Wall" Syndrome' article last night, got some real good ideas. I saved some of the pictures to use as reference, and hopefully I can make a MOC that I am pleased with once I get my bricks.

Oh and I'm glad you liked my music video, Bruce. Thanks.
