Yep, I got myself two Crossbow Attacks and a Final Joust at TRU just today (Massachusetts). A little more expensive that I'd hoped, but eh, it's TRU. I'm very impressed with what I got, although the Skellie horse is smaller than I thought it would be.

Still, I plan on stockpiling more of these for my armies. :D

I purchased 3 recently from TRU (being on a budget stinks!). Last week when I went to TRU, one person had actually bought all of the Final Jousts in stock (20 total). The week prior, I purchased Skeleton Tower. I was surprised that TRU was selling them before Shop At Home- one of the TRU employees told me that they had the newer castle sets in their warehouse for quite a while before they were put on the floor.

The coloring on the boxes for the Final Joust show a darker armor color (at first glance) for the Crown Knight, so that was a minor disappointment since I only have ONE Classic Black Knight in the "traditional" dark grey armor (a good portion of my collection was given away by my younger brother while they were in his care, though I intend on getting more thanks to Brick Link!)

Did anyone else notice that the Crown Knights' helmets don't stay on the mini-figs' heads securely?

BARDING! BARDING! BARDING!

Skeleton Horses!

wow

I went to TRU today to get my son a birthday gift.. I got it, but while I was there I wandered down the lego aisle.. and like whitney houston in a crack house I got to tremblin and shakin! There they were! Everything except the castle. They had the tower, the joust, the jail wagon! I only got a joust and the crossbow knights, because, well heck it is my sons birthday and I figured I'd better spend more on him than on me. :D

and like Tony said, these sets are well worth it. I love the new figs, the armors, the skelly horses. The shields are great, those new bucklers? they are solid shields like the old radar shields without the bumps on them. (well Tony? we gonna see some new stickers? )
I didn't realize that the armor on the undead knight was so .. well bonelike.

The Crown knights armor is indeed a bluish grey - a real bluish grey, pearlescent. Not like what we call bley. at first I wasnt sure about this as I thought it was going to be silver. But the more I look at it.. the more I like it. It just goes so well. The crossbows in the littlest set are also that bluish silvery pearled color.

and I didn't notice any looseness of the helmets on any of mine. At least, no more so than usual. Ever since they switched to studs with holes in the top for the heads, and splits on the ring on the inside, theyve been sorta loose. I always just stretch the necks a little, or sand them down, and fill in that top with putty. I don't usually have bald guys anyway.

whew..
thats it.

I'm thinking about buying some off BL though. What do you think would look better? Yellow or blue?

--Tony
Hmm if the plumes came in that dark blue or pearl gold, THAT would look awesome. :D

But given the choice between yellow or blue, both should look decent. I think I'm leaning towards yellow...

Yep, and those white feathers in every shop just look wrong as plumage.

I do have black, blue, red, yellow, and white.. so I wonder which will look the best. Of course.. I will probably not keep that silver one on the crown knight. :D

When KKII gave us those beautiful dark red bardings I decided I needed dark red PLUMES for these new knights. I had reasonable success very carefully holding black spray paint far enough away from the target plumes that the paint didn't get a chance to completely soak the piece. It's not a pure shade but held a foot away from the face (or camera) it passes as a dark enough red to go with da bardings.
I should also say that while I'm somewhat colorblind but this isn't normally how I get confused as I have the barding (or target color) right next to the plume. I may not see all colors as you do but you'll never see me using a red plume on a black/darkred knight. (I hate that some v1 vladeks have reg. red groins)
Best of luck to any that try themselves,
Ser Loktar

Let me see which sets I have so far.. (looks up manuals)
Ah, got them. I've got three times 7090, 7091 once, 7092 once, and the set I like the best: The Final Joust, also once. But I'm planning on buying more in the near future..
The second coolest set is (IMO) 7091, with the big catapult. It's a great army builder, and you get two triangular shields, which I use to make swordsmen. The skeleton barricade is pretty cool too. And believe it or not, I think this is about one of the best LEGO catapults (But I've never had the Classic Castle LEGO)

Alright, so...I know I've kind of been lurking around not saying a whole lot of anything lately and that's really just because I don't have much excess time these days, but on my way home from work today I stopped at TRU and picked myself up 7009 and 7090. Here's my candid opinion of The Final Joust.

Piece Count (62) VS. Price.

6 of 10.

This set cost me my entire b00ze budget for the day and that made me sad. A bajillion dollars is quite excessive for this set but given the current rate of inflation I suppose it's only mildly outrageous. Nevertheless, I shall still buy hordes of them when payday rolls this way.

Minifigs

8.5 of 10

The Crown Knight, or as I call him, Sir Silverstein, is a great figure. I love his face it's one of my favorites, (Rascus...? Jayko? Somebody?) the downside is I already have SOOO many of them. Chances are if you've bought any Castley Lego© sets over the last few years you are in the same boat as I am. A new, unique head would have been better. (IMO) His armor and helmet are sweeter than sweet. Like having too many puddings instead of just two puddings, (Mmm...pudding analogy...*drool*) although the rivets in it would have looked better as circles instead of dots, I think the dots are more likely to fade faster and are less visible from a distance thus losing detail. The Skeleton knight is near-perfect. Although I thought the KK2 Evil-Skully's mouth was much better looking simply because it was wicked awesome and there can be none-other. The glowing red eyes are excellent and the armor. Mmmmmmhmmmm... OMG OMG And the sheild. I love the the Skull-Shield. It's perfect in every way. Both of the knights horses are awesome (including the Crown Knights Barding and Headress accessories). Only things I wish I could change is that the knights had printing on their torsos and Sir Silverstein (AS I CALL HIM) should have a Dark Blue plume.

Parts

8 of 10

Besides the Dark Blue and Pearl Gold coloration, the rest of the peices are pretty common but will make excellent additions to any collection and great detailing peices.

Weapons

7 of 10

The (Mace?) Is really stupid looking. Sorry if I'm being overly harsh. I think I prefered the KK2 chainless version made with the technic gear. That peice looks cheesy and cheap and worthless upon inspection. It barely resembles a LEGO© at all and I'd expect to see something like that in some other brand building toy. It doesn't have the blockish, geometric Lego©-shapes we've all come to know and love and thusly... I don't love it. But oh well. Perhaps I can find a use for it anyway. The Scythe is awesome, but I think it should be a touch smaller because like the KK2 swords it seems a bit too large in the hands of a minifig. The classic sword in Pearl Bley and the Axe in Dark Bley have my personal seal of approval. Because face it, they are awesome.

Overall Set

9 of 10

Why? Because, face it the concept is impeccible. An' undead knight rides his final joust against his rival before his restless spirit can finally settle into the afterlife. Once it's built it looks great, although a baseplate would have been kinda cool it wasn't important. It looks great and has loads of playability for um...CHILDREN...yeah...

...and me too, and maybe you. If you're cool. *Sound effects of clanging armor and jousting polls ensue and DOOM fades away into LEGO©LAND*

Excellent review, DOOM. Definately an AFOL review  I so can't wait until my prize arives! I am saving up a bit of cash to make a LEGO SaH order to get a few more & a few of the ballista as they don't seem to be available yet in stores around me. That Knight is so cool. I love the new pearl metalic as well, are they the same colour as that hero sword that appeared in the viking sets?

Agreed - the mace does look a bit naff. Like something out of a set produced by a company whose name begins with "M"... :) Actually, I found the spears (traditional mould) just as naff in that silvery pearly soft plastic when I got some in the Viking sets. Not a fan. Compare with the oh so cool clip-on mottled silver/black axe heads and brown poles - I'm guessing the scythe might be as good, although it looks a bit large and isn't the mottled metal effect (silver on black) afaik.
