Do appreciate the heads up. I am in the Metro Detroit area. The Lego aisles at both my local Walmarts looked pretty sparse, the one in Ypsilanti still has one KCS left but the box is smashed a bit, it is $48.88 but theres no special sign or anything, just a simple price tag. The Belleville Wallmart has none.

I am guessing that its a clearance, if you look at their website they are saying no online stock of that set, but it does say store only. No other sets seemed to be on sale.

Shakopee, Minnesota. Went there, no clearance signs just a normal price tag marked $48.**. Picked up both sets left. Not sure what to do with them as this is my third set now.

Someone needs to figure out a cool design with 2-3 of these sets. Some mega-castle.

I picked up the last two copies at my local Walmart tonight. They were on the top shelf and did not have a price label beneath them.

Did you get them at the Walmart in Maplewood? If so, I won't be going then.

I got the sets because they are an excellent parts pack for mocs: http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/arti ... ments.html

Yes. Although I bet the other St. Louis area stores still have copies.

Well, I checked four Wal-marts today and only one had any. Seeing as how it had 11, I picked them all up.

The problem is that I already own two.

So, Wal-Mart isn't waiting for Black Friday?

Apparently not. However there is no indication that they are on sale other than the tiny price tag that is not even on the front of the box-at least at the two Michigan Walmarts I visited.

This did of course make me wonder how many other Black Friday deals were already on the store floors

I really think this is some kind of goof on Wal-Mart's part. I just happened to be there on Thursday looking for something else, and wandered by the LEGO section and noticed it. Like others have mentioned, the sticker indicating the price was very small, and there was no sign indicating a sale. I grabbed the two they had, not thinking it was *really* going to ring up for that price, but of course it did. I'm visiting my parents for Thanksgiving, so I had my Dad run by their Wal-Mart to grab whatever they had. They also had 2, but they were up on the top shelf, with no price tag in sight. He had to get an employee to get them down, but they still rang up for 48.88.

With this set being sold out at TRU.com and backordered on LEGO.com, this really seems like a major blunder on Wal-Mart's part to be letting these sets go so cheaply without the foot traffic that would normally be generated by advertising it. I'm very interested to see this shows up in their Black Friday flier on Thanksgiving.

I don't know if this sort of thing is frowned on here, but my plan is to sell two and keep the other two at little to no cost to myself.

I was able to find two of these at my Walmart tonight. They weren't there Thursday night, so even if you've struck out recently, keep trying.

If there would have been more, I would have scooped em up.

The leaked fliers are circulating now. Interestingly, the set is listed at $50 even on the flier.

It doesn't get much better than getting a discount off the Black Friday prices, before Black Friday, without fighting crowds at 5 AM!

Gee wiz, I've already spent all my birthday money on Bricklink, and no way can I get this. Wait, my family members are gonna be doing some shopping on Black Friday... Maybe I can hint at asking for a KCS for Christmas. 8)

On a less humorous note, this is really suprising move on walmarts part. I'd like to know, was this intentional or accidental? Some say they think it was accidental, but I don't know. I've seen Wal Mart do some rapid markdowns before on Batman sets, but it was due to them not selling. Is Castle in that catagory? I take it just the giant KCS wasn't selling fast enough.

Ahh, I've come to an interesting conclusion!! Maybe Wal Mart is getting rid of all the old 07-early 08 sets to make room for some late 08/early 09 sets this Black Friday. Perhaps More Pirate sets will be seen Black Friday along with others.

This is only speculation. Any thoughts on what I just said, or am I just a dreamer?
