Which One?

Post by Lord Lego 436 »

I'm planning to build a Castle based off of a real life one. What keep design do you guys like more?

Keep #1 (Caldicot):

Keep #2 (Stokesay):

The first one has a lot more angles and colors, so I'm going to say that one.

The second one looks like lots of other MOCs, I've seen before. Though I really like the upper levels on the left end.

I love the upper levels on the second one too, but the first is more complex...

If you're up for the first one go for it! I think it looks better than the second one.

Less talking, more MOCing!

(but if you think you can pull it off, the first one is definitely cooler)

The first one generally looks cooler, has more angles, and is more complex than the second.

The second one looks simpler and easier to design, but it looks a little "less cooler" than the first.

In my opinion, I would go with #1.

I like the jutting out parts on the left side of the second one, as well as the tower on the right side. The first one, though, is nice.

I must admit I lean slightly towards the second one. It also looks like there's an area with a really tall ceiling and stuff in the middle of it, which would make an awesome area for a "great hall" or something.

Just my opinion.
God bless,

I'm going to say go with Caldicot out of selfish reasons. I'm already working on something pretty similar to Stokesay manor. :P

If I had to pick just one, I would build the first one. If I had the bricks to do so, I would build them both. The first looks like more of a challenge. Also, it would depend what Hero/Heroine I was building it for.

My vote is for Stokesay. That castle has very interesting features which are not shown in that picture. A few years ago I designed a timber frame gatehouse loosely based on Stokesay's: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=24491

I have to go against the flow this time and vote for Keep #2 (Stokesay). I looks more like a castle to me, the first looks too much like crazy modern architecture. This is probably a stereotype, but I really don't like huge sloping roofs on #1 at all.

My two cents, but it's your MOC!!!
