Man, why does everyone have to be so combative all the time? Seriously...
Seriously, is right. I couldn't tell you on that one. I keep
trying to figure out why I get stabbed in the back just
about every time I open my mouth. Who knows...
You say that you're going to be making your own minifig (and I'm assuming accessories to go along with it). What will this fig be like? Are you going to continue making LEGO compatible accessories?
What I'd like to do, is to create my own fig that differs from
Lego(better, imo)but still has the capability to use Lego stuff.

Will it be a tad taller?
- Yes, to allow for articulation in the knees, and be more accurately scaled.

Will it be able to fit onto studs?
- Yes, it will still retain the foot holes, but no leg holes.

Will you be able to use existing Lego parts(helms, etc.)?
- Yes, the head and body will change only in the slightest, to allow
for a better overall fig.

Will purist send death threats?
- Yes...but I don't care. This isn't for them anyway.

This is not a place to debate what is a custom and what is not.

Numerous threads of Blasterman have been hijacked by people spouting their retoric on how they don't like what Blasterman is doing. This is unnacceptable, and will not be tolerated.

By definition, this forum is about things other than LEGO that are designed to work in the LEGO world. All of Blasterman's work fits that profile. So if you don't like it, shut yer trap.

Now, if you have constructive criticism, compliments, or advice to share, please do so.

I seem to have offended you, Jeff. My apologies. That was not my intention.

Why did I post? Well, the reason of this forum (and of most if not all forums if I am not mistaken) is to present opinions. My opinion was, this customization just looks too un-LEGO to me. Perhaps I should be more clear.

What is wrong with someone posting something that is supposedly about a topic they don't like? KK2 and Viking bashers do it all the time. What is wrong with someone who usually does not like customs making a comment? Nothing, as I see it.

I am not so anti-custom as you seem to think. I have cut LEGO. I have made (but not used) stickers. I own some of your weapons. There are some forms of customization I like. Others I don't. I simply do not like customs so complex it almost doesn't look like LEGO at all. That is my opinion, whatever it is worth, if anything.

No one will like everything you make. Please do not jump down someone's throat when they post less-than-ecstatic comments about your creations. And now that I see you dislike comments from me, I won't bother posting in any more of your threads. That is probably better for both of us.

I have mixed feelings on this.

For the most part, I love it - your minifigure looks so much more realistic and it only shows the level of ingenuity and craftsmanship you possess.

On the other hand, should you mass produce this, I don't think I would buy it, mainly because it just wouldn't "fit" with the rest of my figs.

All in all, this is very impressive - good job and keep it up.

I kinda like the posable legs. I didn't care for the posable arms that much, though I could still see some people liking them (Brenton Powell's work comes to mind, since more expressive posing might aid his storytelling). Wait, Brendan? Dang, I forget.

Anyway, thanks for bringing this to our attention, Kevin (perhaps it should be pointed out that this is NOT a Blasterman thread, though it is about his work).

Hmm...

It seems to be my reply that has most of this thread up in arms. I wasn't trying to be inflammatory, and I think it should be obvious that I have very high regards for Blasterman as a crafter of customs.

That said, I felt it necessary to state MY opinion. If Blasterman is permitted to CREATE his opinion, then I am surely entitled to opinionate on it in a reasonably civil manner.

Mostly, what I was trying to do was explain WHY I don't care for articulated limbs, when I have no problems with other customization and have customized a fair bit myself in the past. I felt it necessary to state in a clear, and more-or-less concise manner WHY I don't care for articulated limbs, and not just repeat (as has happened on many threads) that I don't care for them, and not state why, or state why confusingly, nonsensically, or just plain ridiculously.

That said, I hope Jeff isn't offended by my comments. I am wowed that he is even able to create this, and his weapons and armour are probably my favourite fig accessories. The fact is that I simply do not need or want any changes to my basic minifigs, underneath all those helmets, hairs, and arms.

Whew, I'm away from my computer for a week and all sorts of fecal matter hits the rotating cooling appliance! With this and the bruhaha over on Lugnet, things have become a bit heated. What gives? This is my fun, my escape from the mundane world. Ah well...

I admire your workmanship Jeff. I am a fan of your accessories and got mine several weeks ago, thank you very much sir. As for myself, I don't care for the arms and legs, but that does not diminish my appreication for the effort and fantastic looking result. Your pre-plate era knight is the best custom Lego fig of any kind, well, OK, Goldman's Snake Plissken gives it a run for the money  . Despite the fact that I'm not interested in obtaining the arms and legs (should they become available) myself, I marvel at the time, patience, dedication and love for the hobby it demonstrates on your part. I do however continue to salivate like one of Pavlov's AFOLs for the Great Helm to be available! I know how difficult making the accessories must be, especially the belts and cloaks. Don't let naysayers get under your skin! Just keep on doin' what you do best.

Kevin, thanks for sharing this with us.

People...please READ this -
(and I didn't yell when I typed this, so...)

I'm not offended by anyone's comments. I don't really care
one way or the other, if you like or dislike "my" minifig.
This is something I've been tooling around with for a while,
and decided to post pics on Brickshelf. Why? I wanted to
show the differences to a Lego minifig. It was not shown
for any other reason, at all. I'm not making it(yet) - It's
NOT the final version - Heck, the joints aren't themselves
even the final designs. So you see...I really don't care
what anyone says about it. 8)

Bricksidge(Kevin) posted about it, not me. Remember that.
This is not me posting my stuff, and crying because "I don't
get my way", as it's been put so many times.

Everyone is perfectly in their rights to post whatever they
want about this thing. I will answer questions if need be.

This is the last I will post about the "off-topic" BS. Keep
this thread on target, or I'll hunt you down. :P

Couldn't have said it better myself. Jeff, your customs are amazing, and I always can't wait to see what you have up your sleave.

I love the accessories, but (should they ever go on sale) I'm not sure about the articulated arms and legs. If you price them around $0.10 a peice (which you won't due to the cost of producing them) or I won the lottery (which I won't due to the fact that I don't play it) I would swoop in and convert my entire minifig collection to articulation. As is, a handful of guys just wouldn't look right.

That being said, they look great, and it's always interesting to me to see your creations, whether inside or outside the box (er...brick...) of conventional Lego thinking and products.

I happen to think that these legs look great. They're compatible with LEGO and high quality. That's what matters to me. If Jeff does mass produce the arms and legs I'll get 'em.
