The BloodVaine Epic

Chapter 20: Following The Mana Trail

When BloodVaine expelled a large amount of energy and he stunned everyone within Drullen Bell Keep, the gigantic use of Mana power ricocheted throughout the world of Dametreos, upsetting the balance of magical power and sending the energy force into a tailspin.
Lord Void, loading supplies onto the airship with Gib and Marus clutched his head. His monocle popped out and shatter on the floor. Lord Void steadied himself and straightened. Gib and Marus was staring at him, mouths agape.
       “What happened...are...are you alright?”
Lord Void repaired his monocle with a wave of his hand and snapped, “Something is amiss in the land of Dametreos,”
With another short jerk of his hand the rest of the supplies loaded themselves into the airship.
“Come!” Lord Void snapped, “The world of Dametreos has gone sour. The magical Mana life-force has gone amiss, it is no longer flowing smoothly, it has been disrupted. Dametreos will shrivel up and die if this problem continues. This is worse than I have imagined, much worse. We must leave immediately,”
       “Where are we going?”
“We will follow the path of Mana to it’s new source.”
“And what is the new source?”
“Not what, my friend, but who.”
       “Who then?”
       “BloodVaine.”
The Arklyndellys Vulondur sliced through the cloud cover like a plow in rich soil, it's half-a-dozen propellers whirring non-stop.
Marus clung to the railing, his face pale green. The motion of the airship was similar to that of a seafaring vessel, and his stomach was not pleased.
“Ugggg...Milord...does this tyco ship hafta rock so?”
Lord Void glared. “I must admit my skills in piloting are only adequate, I am usually accustomed to merely relaxing on the deck while a whole crew attended to the whims of the Arklyndellys Vulondur.”
“I thought this you said this ship could be manned by a mere three men.” said Gib, his brow raised.
“I did say that, for it is true. The Arklyndellys Vulondur needs only a pilot, and engineer and a navigator. Unfortunately, I realize now we have very few of those skills between us.”
“Why couldn’t you have gotten a bunch of your soldiers to control this rotten craft?” asked Marus as he retched again.
“Because this mission is solely personal, Marus. Soldiers are handy, but they are also bulky, smelly and loud. Our mission is subterfuge, not a frontal assault.”
“But why do you go on this mission yourself then?”
“Two reasons. One; a commander goes in front of the army, not behind it. Two; never rely on someone else to successfully fulfill a mission. I made that mistake once, I will not make it again.”
       A pause.
“So where are we now?” asked Marus.
Lord Void activated some controls and lowered the Arklyndellys Vulondur below the cloud cover to observe the land below. After observing the terrain below for a moment or to, Lord Void replied,
“It is obvious we are still above the mainland, perhaps over Classic LEGO or the Crusaders.”
       “What does the...er...Mana...er...feel like now?”
Lord Void considered. “It still ripples like a pool that has had a rock thrown in, but-”
       Lord Void stopped, blinked.
       “What?” asked Gib and Marus.
“The Mana power has been tapped again...it seems...yes...a simple teleportation…”
“Can you pinpoint the location?” asked Gib excitingly.
       “Not exactly...but I can follow the trail…”
Lord Void flipped some more switches. “Hold on!” he warned as the Arklyndellys Vulondur accelerated, “We must travel fast before the trail fades!”
Lord Void winced. The Mana flow had been tapped again...and again...and again...and yet again for a forth time. Lord Void attempted to sort out the types of spells....one was a simple teleharm...that was for sure...another one was a teleport, but that last to confused Lord Void. One was a sort of prison spell combined with a shrinking spell. However the forth spell worried Lord Void the most....a rise to power...
       Lord Void turned white.
“Tyco!” he swore, “The Eroth Gamus has been rebirthed!”
       “What?”
“The Eroth Gamus has become a God-Dragon!”
The Arklyndellys Vulondur suddenly dropped out of the sky.
“What are you doing?!?” screamed Marus.
“The pendants are near, I can feel them!”
