The Portugese Caravel was a small quick ship used during medieval times. This MOC pictures a caravel being repaired and having a new mast set. (Caravels usually had two mast.) The great gates shut the sea from the work area, and a pump was used to remove the water. Workers could then get under the ship to scrap off barnacles and make needed repairs,
